U.S. National Security
The constant threat of a wave flow of refugees onto the US borders by Haitians from Haiti remains a constant concern for US government officials. Unlike the 1980’s where by boat, hundreds of thousands of refugees have reached the shores of Florida, many have now made the perilous multi state trip from the South America and Central America to the borders of California via the Mexican desert. As food becomes more expensive and the cost of living pretty much unbearable in Haiti, a second wave of boat people phenomenon is always a possibility. The cost to contain at sea or repatriate them home will certainly be expensive. Haitians people are known to be hard workers and mainly leave their home to seek better opportunities and fend for their families. Given opportunity to have these jobs right at home where they prefer to reside will be beneficial to the US in terms of National Security and Haiti by keeping its productive citizens home. The constant threat of a wave flow of refugees on the US borders by the Haitians remain always a top priority for the officials of the US government.
